Our
vast woods offer many wildlife sighting opportunities
with thousands of acres of paper company and Maine Public
Lands to explore - much of which is accessible year
round. Deer, bear, coyote, fox, bald eagle, osprey,
waterfowl, and of course, North America's tallest land
mammal, the moose, can be found here. The Upper Kennebec
Valley region offers an incomparable fall foliage experience
with some of the most breathtaking views in New England.
Late
spring and summer months bring a variety of paddling
opportunities for all skill levels, whether you canoe,
kayak or prefer the whitewater.
This
region is also noted for the portion of the Appalachian
trail that crosses the Kennebec River to Caratunk and
traverses Pleasant and Bald mountains. From your cabin
or campsite, backcountry roads and trails provide excellent
hiking or biking.
If
you want a Northern Woods hunting experience, we have
it. Moose, deer, bear, grouse, woodcock, ducks, and
a wide variety of small game take center stage.
